Adam Manolescu started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes fcrapid got a freekick which was hit by Maxim Petrică. 4 minutes into the game, Fc Barcelona's Romeo Aliuta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iordache Dobrescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 11 minutes into the game, Virgil Aplugăriței was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fc Barcelona's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave fcrapid the free kick. In the 11th match minute, Fc Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgil Aplugăriței to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes in the game, Cornel Daria fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Tudor Vârnav having to interfere. Aurel Dragușin struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Tudor Vârnav didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for fcrapid. Iordache Dobrescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Manolescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Aurel Dragușin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tudor Vârnav showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurel Dragușin in the 23rd minute of the match. Adam Manolescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Romeo Aliuta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iordache Dobrescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of fcrapid booed when Fc Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Răzvan Foltea didn't get a good kick on the ball. fcrapid's Bogdan Tunaru got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Costel Vochin fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored fcrapid's protests and gave Costel Vochin a yellow card for diving instead. If Aurel Dragușin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Fc Barcelona were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aurel Dragușin to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Aliuta got free with Iordache Dobrescu in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tudor Vârnav showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornel Daria, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. A collision led to fcrapid getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Maxim Petrică hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurel Dragușin in the 69th minute of play forced Fc Barcelona's goalkeeper Tudor Vârnav to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Aurel Dragușin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lucian Dichiseanu hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Cornel Daria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Tudor Vârnav tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romeo Aliuta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iordache Dobrescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Manolescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Fc Barcelona's Traian Vulturar got a free kick in the 91st minute.
