The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Denis Bobei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dies Irae's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC NIGHT BIRD the free kick. A collision led to Dies Irae getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Denis Bobei hit a great ball. After having played for 6 minutes, Octavian Bucataru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dies Irae's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octavian Bucataru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Antoine Bouquet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 11 minutes into the match, Dies Irae's goal looked a bit too open when Dinu Onciu came free, but Octavian Iliuță reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Dies Irae's Octavian Bucataru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcel Beraru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iordache Lazăr got free with Octavian Iliuță in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Dies Irae's Octavian Iliuță got control of the ball when Virgil Fărcașu tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of FC NIGHT BIRD booed when Dies Irae was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antoine Bouquet didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iordache Lazăr got free with Octavian Iliuță in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Octavian Bucataru managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dies Irae's supporters rose to their feet, but Octavian Bucataru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcel Beraru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Iordache Lazăr scored 1-1 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Octavian Iliuță, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Octavian Iliuță made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgil Fărcașu in the 37th minute. If Octavian Bucataru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Lemnaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Octavian Bucataru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martin Lemnaru struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Marcel Beraru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dies Irae. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Călin Rareș to make the kick off. 58 minutes into the game, Călin Rareș cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Octavian Iliuță was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 61 minutes, Octavian Bucataru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Octavian Bucataru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Beraru having to interfere. When Peter-Michael Dörmann fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dies Irae's protests and gave Peter-Michael Dörmann a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Dies Irae's Peter-Michael Dörmann got a free kick in the 74th minute. Octavian Iliuță showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgil Fărcașu, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. If Octavian Bucataru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Octavian Bucataru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
