But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Melinte couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Filiasi getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Augustin Baldazar hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute of the match Teodor Elefterescu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eduard Turdeanu skillfully saved the ball. Dan Latarețu kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Filiasi's goalkeeper Eduard Turdeanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ionică Rădoi. Emil Melinte did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Eduard Turdeanu 36 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Ionică Rădoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gyepes CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Ionică Rădoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eduard Turdeanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Narcis Tomoiu to make the kick off. Dinu Luțu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Dinu Dulca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 55 minutes into the game, Dinu Luțu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Dinu Dulca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Emil Melinte came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Gyepes CS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Melinte couldn't finish the play. 79 minutes into the match, Gyepes CS's goalkeeper Dinu Dulca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dinu Luțu. If Ionică Rădoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Gyepes CS booed when Filiasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sabin Doinaș didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filiasi's Eduard Turdeanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Melinte in the 89th minute of play. 94 minutes into the game, Gyepes CS's Ionică Rădoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduard Turdeanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Filip Hoisie kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. Filiasi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
