Gheorghe Zota's late challenge caught a Eminescu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ovidiu Trifănucă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Eminescu's Ferdinand Elenescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdinand Ciucă in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd match minute, Jegheriste was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gelu Corduneanu to maneuver through the defense. Ferdinand Elenescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gelu Corduneanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After 27 played minutes Eminescu got a freekick which was hit by Martin Frățilă. If Ovidiu Trifănucă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 33 minutes of play, Eminescu's Cazimir Huștiu made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ioan Avram was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Eminescu booed when Jegheriste was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidiu Trifănucă didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Cazimir Huștiu put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ioan Avram. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Cazimir Huștiu made the kick off in the second half.
