Constantin Basarab was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 14 minutes into the match, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Dráusio Pereira came free, but Iacob Bârsescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leontin Luncaniță kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Iacob Bârsescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráusio Pereira in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Dacian Greavu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Constantin Basarab was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jiul Petrosani 1919's Constantin Basarab played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leontin Luncaniță in the 31st minute of play. Constantin Basarab didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dacian Greavu went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. If Silviu Gâdea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iacob Bârsescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silviu Gâdea in the 41st minute of play. Constantin Basarab took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dacian Greavu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dráusio Pereira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Iacob Bârsescu made a huge save. The supporters of Jiul Petrosani 1919 booed when ASU Politehnica Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corneliu Troncotă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Tony Manerov hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Dacian Greavu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Constantin Basarab having to interfere. In the 58th match minute, ASU Politehnica Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petruț Busuioc to maneuver through the defense. If Aron Ilinca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Dráusio Pereira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iacob Bârsescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. A collision led to ASU Politehnica Timisoara getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Viorel Chelbea hit a great ball. Iacob Bârsescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Miclovan in the 80th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Constantin Basarab threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cosmin Tofan, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Silviu Gâdea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Iacob Bârsescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Aron Ilinca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dráusio Pereira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
