Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) UNITED GALATI's Cristian Fenici started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aurel Dancu's late challenge caught a UNITED GALATI's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aurel Dancu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Hanzesti SC's Aurel Dancu got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute of the match UNITED GALATI got a corner. Hanzesti SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sandu Mușătescu ran over to the corner to take the kick. UNITED GALATI's Sandu Mușătescu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rareș Jităreanu in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Rareș Jităreanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stelian Buricea in the 10th minute of play. Hanzesti SC's Manuel Şendrea got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 17th minute of the match Radu Ionițoiu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cazimir Rareș showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Andrei Zbanţ fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hanzesti SC's protests and gave Andrei Zbanţ a yellow card for diving instead. Cristian Fenici took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rareș Jităreanu. Rareș Jităreanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. When Constantin Domuță came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Hanzesti SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantin Domuță couldn't finish the play. UNITED GALATI's Stelian Buricea got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 45 minutes, Constantin Domuță managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hanzesti SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Constantin Domuță was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manuel Şendrea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Hanzesti SC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. UNITED GALATI were winning 0-2.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manuel Şendrea to strike the kick off in the second half. Cazimir Rareș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Constantin Domuță in the 54th minute of play. If Manuel Şendrea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stelian Buricea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rareș Jităreanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Fenici, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stelian Buricea got free with Rareș Jităreanu in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Stelian Buricea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stelian Buricea succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 77th playminute. Stelian Buricea in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rareș Jităreanu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Cristian Fenici had several of the Hanzesti SC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 85 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Rareș Jităreanu as he didn't even see the shot coming. UNITED GALATI's Cazimir Rareș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Şendrea in the 90th minute of play. Constantin Domuță sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute Manuel Şendrea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cazimir Rareș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The UNITED GALATI supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing UNITED GALATI would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
