Colteni's Nicu Dobre proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Colteni from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Colteni's Emil Vrabie got a free kick in the 11th minute. Colteni's Nicu Dobre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albert Vestlund in the 13th minute of play. Matei Ionășescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicu Dobre having to interfere. Virgil Dănilă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horea Marchidan, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The supporters of FC STEAUA BUCURESTI booed when Colteni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogdan Tăgorean didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 25 minutes of play, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Valentin Ailenei made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicu Dobre was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Álvaro Rodríguez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC STEAUA BUCURESTI fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 32nd minute, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Álvaro Rodríguez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. 35 minutes into the match, Colteni's goalkeeper Nicu Dobre had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matei Ionășescu. After 36 played minutes Colteni got a freekick which was hit by Marius Hârșu. Matei Ionășescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicu Dobre having to interfere. Albert Vestlund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Nicu Dobre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Emil Vrabie fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Colteni's protests and gave Emil Vrabie a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Colteni's Emil Vrabie got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Álvaro Rodríguez made a kick off. Lucian Petruț took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicu Dobre. Nicu Dobre dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Rodríguez in the 66th minute of play forced Colteni's goalkeeper Nicu Dobre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Matei Ionășescu managed to work through Colteni's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Matei Ionășescu dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The FC STEAUA BUCURESTI fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Álvaro Rodríguez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Colteni defense, Matei Ionășescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicu Dobre. The Colteni fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicu Dobre should have stopped the shot. 83 minutes into the game, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Álvaro Rodríguez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicu Dobre made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. After 86 minutes of play, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Lucian Petruț made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicu Dobre was left in no man's land by his defense there! 91 minutes into the match, Colteni's goal looked a bit too open when Lucian Petruț came free, but Nicu Dobre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicu Dobre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Vestlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
