In the 13th minute Frederik Diggele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciprian Tătăruşanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciprian Tătăruşanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ştefan Deșliu's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 31 minutes into the game, one of Olimpic Sibiu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ciprian Tătăruşanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ştefan Deșliu in the 40th minute of the match. Mihail Atanasiu made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Rik Sligter sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rik Sligter during the 44th minute. Maramures-MM-'s supporters rose to their feet, but Rik Sligter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rik Sligter was the one to do the kick off.
