FK Valk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lencmuiza the free kick. After 5 played minutes FK Valk got a freekick which was hit by Persijs Bambālis. Vaclavs Skrims came free in the 6th minute and tried to tip the ball over Gatis Neifelds, but to the joy of FK Valk's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gunvaris Freiborns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anšlavs Vessers charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anšlavs Vessers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Lencmuiza booed when FK Valk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anšlavs Vessers didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, FK Valk's Gatis Neifelds got control of the ball when Elvis Holsts tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gunvaris Freiborns charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Gatis Neifelds was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Mareks Mazins capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mareks Mazins really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Lencmuiza's goal looked a bit too open when Gunvaris Freiborns came free, but Aidis Spars reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Aidis Spars made an important save on a dangerous shot by Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais in the 52nd minute. Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aidis Spars read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Censonis Simtnieks's late challenge caught a FK Valk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Censonis Simtnieks helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Lencmuiza's Censonis Simtnieks got a free kick in the 55th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aidis Spars saved Lencmuiza from getting behind. Augusts Cornijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 69 minutes into the match, Lencmuiza's Gregors Samtins sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gatis Neifelds narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mareks Mazins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gatis Neifelds having to interfere. After having played for 89 minutes, Gunvaris Freiborns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FK Valk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gunvaris Freiborns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the FK Valk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miervaldis Klucis-Lielais couldn't finish the play.
