Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when David Kagai Chemjor got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the match, FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa's goalkeeper Mwai Emilio Mwangi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by John Lagat. FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa's Mwai Emilio Mwangi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa from getting a goal against them. Mwai Emilio Mwangi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Leakey in the 14th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Mekatilili Biwott ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Samson Kobia was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Mekatilili Biwott received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Samson Kobia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute of the match, John Lagat got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mwai Emilio Mwangi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mwai Emilio Mwangi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson Leakey, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 31st minute Christopher Bilali shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samson Kobia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mwai Emilio Mwangi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Christopher Waheto in the 32nd minute. FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa's Mwai Emilio Mwangi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa from getting a goal against them. If John Kiplagat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th match minute, FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kimutai Muiruri to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Leakey came free, but Mwai Emilio Mwangi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when John Bilali made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, John Lagat managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool's supporters rose to their feet, but John Lagat was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mwai Emilio Mwangi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ali Kiprop Kirui hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. The supporters of Liverpool booed when FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kimutai Muiruri didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 61 played minutes, Liverpool's Ali Kiprop Kirui shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mwai Emilio Mwangi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Liverpool reached it. After having played for 63 minutes, John Kiplagat managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but John Kiplagat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 73 minutes into the game, Wilson Leakey cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Mwai Emilio Mwangi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Faiz-Kevin Mangat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samson Kobia having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool's zone, David Kagai Chemjor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samson Kobia came out of the goal and David Kagai Chemjor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Kagai Chemjor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Samson Kobia having to make a save. In the 83rd match minute, FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Kitur to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd match minute, Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John Kiplagat to maneuver through the defense. When John Lagat came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Liverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that John Lagat couldn't finish the play.
