Christos Mourouzis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Antonis Kaliakatsos in the 5th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alketas Panagiotidis in the 6th minute of play forced PANATHINAIKOS's goalkeeper Eugenios Kalouptsidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Xoϊdha's Christos Mourouzis got control of the ball when Konstantinos Asimakis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Christos Mourouzis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nikos Kioubouroglou, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. A collision led to Xoϊdha getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Charalambos Papafanakis hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the game, Dimitris Nikolaidis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Eugenios Kalouptsidis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Eugenios Kalouptsidis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charalambos Papafanakis in the 17th minute of play. Eugenios Kalouptsidis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alketas Panagiotidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Christoforos Kalvos charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christoforos Kalvos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Xoϊdha's Christoforos Kalvos got a free kick in the 21st minute. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Nikos Kioubouroglou sped through Xoϊdha's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Christos Mourouzis. Themis Peridis struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Christos Mourouzis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PANATHINAIKOS. Themis Peridis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Christos Mourouzis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugenios Kalouptsidis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alekos Vrotsos in the 33rd minute of play. Nikos Kioubouroglou might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christos Mourouzis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nikos Kioubouroglou ran back to his position shaking his head. Konstantinos Asimakis kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. In the 46th match minute, Xoϊdha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimiros Dimitroulis to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alketas Panagiotidis was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Alketas Panagiotidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenios Kalouptsidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christos Mourouzis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nikos Kioubouroglou's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Christos Mourouzis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anthimos Bouloubasis in the 57th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the game, PANATHINAIKOS's Anthimos Bouloubasis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christos Mourouzis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Xoϊdha's zone, Themis Peridis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christos Mourouzis came out of the goal and Themis Peridis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Nikos Kioubouroglou's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christos Mourouzis was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. In the 74th minute of the match Vladimiros Dimitroulis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eugenios Kalouptsidis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alketas Panagiotidis kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match.
