The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alkaios Kallioras who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Lambis Gerokostas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Milan Paul made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Spyros Tsitsinakis in the 4th minute of play. Milan Paul showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petros Naskos, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. AEK Athens FC's Milan Paul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thanasis Loubakis in the 6th minute of play. Lambis Gerokostas made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Alkaios Kallioras sent off a good shot on target. Milan Paul didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Spyros Tsitsinakis went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Alkaios Kallioras might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lambis Gerokostas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alkaios Kallioras ran back to his position shaking his head. Milan Paul showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spyros Tsitsinakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After 20 minutes of play, Sellνon BC's Petros Naskos made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Milan Paul was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alkaios Kallioras who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Lambis Gerokostas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Alkaios Kallioras sped through Sellνon BC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lambis Gerokostas. 31 minutes into the match, Sellνon BC's goal looked a bit too open when Alkaios Kallioras came free, but Lambis Gerokostas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Milan Paul didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Spyros Tsitsinakis went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Sellνon BC's zone, Alkaios Kallioras stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lambis Gerokostas came out of the goal and Alkaios Kallioras tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alkaios Kallioras who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Lambis Gerokostas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alkaios Kallioras recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Alkaios Kallioras dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lambis Gerokostas, 2-3. Alkaios Kallioras who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Lambis Gerokostas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Makis Boumis's late challenge caught a AEK Athens FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Makis Boumis helped the player get up and apologised. Makis Boumis kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Milan Paul made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Spyros Tsitsinakis sent off a good shot on target. AEK Athens FC's attentive Takis Papamichail managed to snatch the ball when Christos Tsigaridas made a throw-in in the 57th minute of the game. Lambis Gerokostas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alkaios Kallioras's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. When Takis Papamichail fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AEK Athens FC's protests and gave Takis Papamichail a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, AEK Athens FC's Takis Papamichail got a free kick in the 60th minute. 61 minutes into the match, AEK Athens FC's goal looked a bit too open when Apostolos Smernos came free, but Milan Paul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Sellνon BC got a freekick which was hit by Spyros Tsitsinakis. In the 69th minute Apostolos Smernos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Milan Paul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Spyros Tsitsinakis succeeded in the game's 71st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-4. Alkaios Kallioras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 78th play minutes Alkaios Kallioras shot 4-4, a short shot which went by Lambis Gerokostas and just under the crossbar into goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alkaios Kallioras in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lambis Gerokostas saved Sellνon BC from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alkaios Kallioras in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lambis Gerokostas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alkaios Kallioras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Lambis Gerokostas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Milan Paul showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Apostolos Smernos, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. When AEK Athens FC's Alkaios Kallioras in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sellνon BC's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alkaios Kallioras in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lambis Gerokostas saved Sellνon BC from getting behind. 94 minutes into the match, Álvaro Leão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lambis Gerokostas. Sellνon BC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Álvaro Leão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-4. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sellνon BC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for AEK Athens FC.
