Iivari Myllykoski started the match with the kick off. 7 minutes into the game, Eero Vihko was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bodbacka's Uolevi Ahonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Janne Haapamäki in the 24th minute of play. A collision led to Bodbacka getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Ilkka Viklund hit a great ball. Uolevi Ahonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Janne Haapamäki in the 25th minute of play. Julius Möksy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uolevi Ahonen having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Petri Vauhkonen got free with Teemu Kantola in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jyrki Hyökyvaara scored 0-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Uolevi Ahonen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Uolevi Ahonen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Janne Haapamäki's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. The supporters of Rovaniemen pallo seura booed when Bodbacka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyösti Uitto didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Janne Haapamäki in the 46th minute of play forced Bodbacka's goalkeeper Uolevi Ahonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute of the match Kerkko Ruohiainen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uolevi Ahonen skillfully saved the ball. The Bodbacka players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rovaniemen pallo seura were winning 0-1.

When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Janne Haapamäki put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Uolevi Ahonen. Toni Liimatainen kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Bodbacka's goal looked a bit too open when Janne Haapamäki came free, but Uolevi Ahonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Janne Haapamäki's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Uolevi Ahonen was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Rovaniemen pallo seura's Uolevi Ahonen threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jyrki Hyökyvaara, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Uolevi Ahonen had in the 73rdth minute some difficulties stopping Eero Vihko's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 73 minutes of play, Rovaniemen pallo seura's Eero Vihko made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uolevi Ahonen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jukka-Pekka Karhu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Uolevi Ahonen. Bodbacka's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Janne Haapamäki came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Rovaniemen pallo seura fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Janne Haapamäki couldn't finish the play. 84 minutes into the match, Bodbacka's goal looked a bit too open when Janne Haapamäki came free, but Uolevi Ahonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Janne Haapamäki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute, Miika Raita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 93 minutes into the match, Bodbacka's goal looked a bit too open when Janne Haapamäki came free, but Uolevi Ahonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute of the match Kerkko Ruohiainen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uolevi Ahonen skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 96 minutes, Janne Haapamäki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rovaniemen pallo seura's supporters crossed their fingers, but Janne Haapamäki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
