After having played for 7 minutes, Luukas Erkkilä managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heimola FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luukas Erkkilä was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 9th minute, Isaac Selänne fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lasse Leppilampi in the 12th minute of play forced Heimola FC's goalkeeper Ensio Vähäsalo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lasse Leppilampi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Ensio Vähäsalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Heimola FC defense, Vilppu Vehmanen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ensio Vähäsalo. The Heimola FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ensio Vähäsalo should have stopped the shot. Mennen FC's Hemmo Peltonen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Mennen FC from getting a goal against them. Antti Blom scored 0-2 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ensio Vähäsalo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Isaac Selänne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hemmo Peltonen having to interfere. In the 41st match minute, Mennen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antti Blom to maneuver through the defense. Unto Pentsinen's late challenge caught a Mennen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Unto Pentsinen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Unto Pentsinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vilppu Vehmanen in the 45th minute of play forced Heimola FC's goalkeeper Ensio Vähäsalo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the game, Mennen FC's Vilppu Vehmanen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ensio Vähäsalo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Isaac Selänne made a kick off. With a little luck, Heimola FC's Ensio Vähäsalo got control of the ball when Lasse Leppilampi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eric Väätäinen's late challenge caught a Mennen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Väätäinen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd minute Isaac Selänne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hemmo Peltonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eric Väätäinen was shown his second yellow card after 63 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Eric Väätäinen hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Hemmo Peltonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luukas Erkkilä, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mennen FC:s Hemmo Peltonen showed great skill when he stopped Unto Pentsinen:s penalty. Lasse Leppilampi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ensio Vähäsalo having to interfere. Luukas Erkkilä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Hemmo Peltonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lasse Leppilampi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Ensio Vähäsalo made a huge save. Ensio Vähäsalo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johannes Huikari in the 86th minute of the match. In the 88th minute Tobias Hujanen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hemmo Peltonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ensio Vähäsalo didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 91st minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. Luukas Erkkilä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Hemmo Peltonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Heimola FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mennen FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Mennen FC.
