The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Vaasan Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Heikki Mikkola came free, but Veikko Suoraniemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Parkkila's Lasse Rinne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Topi Kulonen in the 8th minute of play. When Aulis Kalliokoski fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Parkkila's protests and gave Aulis Kalliokoski a yellow card for diving instead. Aulis Kalliokoski kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Parkkila's zone, Topi Kulonen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lasse Rinne came out of the goal and Topi Kulonen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Sulo Lähtelä fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Parkkila's protests and gave Sulo Lähtelä a yellow card for diving instead. Veikko Suoraniemi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heikki Mikkola, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Paul Haakana charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paul Haakana the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Paul Haakana hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Topi Kulonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lasse Rinne having to interfere. Parkkila's Lasse Rinne proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Parkkila from getting a goal against them. Veikko Suoraniemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Taavetti Brinck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heikki Mikkola's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Veikko Suoraniemi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Taavetti Brinck to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Aulis Kalliokoski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, Vaasan Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Taavetti Brinck came free, but Veikko Suoraniemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Taavetti Brinck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Veikko Suoraniemi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heikki Mikkola in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Vaasan Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Taavetti Brinck came free, but Veikko Suoraniemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 71 minutes, Auvo Pursiainen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vaasan Palloseura and the Parkkila players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Vaasan Palloseura's Auvo Pursiainen got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Topi Kulonen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Heikki Mikkola came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Parkkila fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Heikki Mikkola couldn't finish the play. Heikki Mikkola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Veikko Suoraniemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Veikko Suoraniemi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taavetti Brinck in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute of the match Ossi Ojansuu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Veikko Suoraniemi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vaasan Palloseura's Veikko Suoraniemi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Vaasan Palloseura from getting a goal against them. Parkkila's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
