When Roland Ruul fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paidla SK's protests and gave Roland Ruul a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th minute, Roland Ruul hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Veiko Härg struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Tõnn Pärt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Defender. The supporters of FC Defender booed when Paidla SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Ruul didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tõnn Pärt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Veiko Härg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Alo Helemäe took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Kusti Puusepp to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Paidla SK getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Vello Kamla hit a great ball. In the 46th minute of the match Teet Tohter shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tõnn Pärt showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alo Helemäe made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Villem Hanni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kusti Puusepp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Villem Hanni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kusti Puusepp having to interfere. 56 minutes into the game, Hannes Aher was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paidla SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Defender the free kick. After a rather tough play, Paidla SK's Roland Ruul got a free kick in the 58th minute. Priidu Agar hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute Villem Hanni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kusti Puusepp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Alo Helemäe came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Paidla SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alo Helemäe couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Villem Hanni in the 72nd minute of play forced FC Defender's goalkeeper Kusti Puusepp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alo Helemäe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kusti Puusepp having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Defender's zone, Alo Helemäe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kusti Puusepp came out of the goal and Alo Helemäe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Alo Helemäe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kusti Puusepp was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Kusti Puusepp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Villem Hanni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Defender's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
