Dirk Jan Hoogsteen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gyuro Mirchev, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 17th match minute, FC Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Momchil Cholpanov to maneuver through the defense. FC Neftochimic's Denislav Petrishki was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 18th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After a rather tough play, FC Neftochimic's Serafim Filchovski got a free kick in the 20th minute. Dirk Jan Hoogsteen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yulian Kyurpanov in the 24th minute of play. Dirk Jan Hoogsteen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yulian Kyurpanov's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After 27 minutes, Velcho Tzintzov made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Neftochimic's Dirk Jan Hoogsteen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Serafim Filchovski hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Dirk Jan Hoogsteen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prodan Piyanechki, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After 36 minutes, Dencho Nikolchev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Neftochimic and the FC Liverpool players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

FC Liverpool's Momchil Cholpanov quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Presiyan Pisev, made in the 51st minute of the game. Denislav Petrishki's late challenge caught a FC Liverpool's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denislav Petrishki helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th match minute, FC Neftochimic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denislav Petrishki to maneuver through the defense. FC Neftochimic's Dirk Jan Hoogsteen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save FC Neftochimic from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Prodan Piyanechki took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Dirk Jan Hoogsteen to make any attempt to save it. In the 66thth minute of the game Denislav Petrishki who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Liverpool's Vergil Belokapov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Argir Mandadzhiev went to the cornerflag to take it. With a little luck, FC Neftochimic's Dirk Jan Hoogsteen got control of the ball when Velcho Tzintzov tried to sneak it across the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, FC Liverpool's goal looked a bit too open when Yanaki Kolov came free, but Vergil Belokapov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dirk Jan Hoogsteen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Prodan Piyanechki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Prodan Piyanechki received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dirk Jan Hoogsteen came out and tried to block the shot, but Prodan Piyanechki slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 93rd minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC Liverpool eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
