The supporters of Northampton booed when Crawley City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arkadiy Grube didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute of the match, Arkadiy Grube got a very nice opportunity to score, but Oleg Izyumov was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 17 minutes into the match, Northampton's goal looked a bit too open when Eduard Bezukhov came free, but Oleg Izyumov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adam Babkin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Daniil Yasyrev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniil Yasyrev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adam Babkin's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Daniil Yasyrev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladislav Gurin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 25 minutes, Adam Babkin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Northampton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Babkin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Oleg Vlasov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Crawley City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Northampton the free kick. A collision led to Crawley City getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Oleg Vlasov hit a great ball. Yakov Lyabakh struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Daniil Yasyrev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Northampton. But to his dismay, Oleg Vlasov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. When Adam Babkin came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Northampton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adam Babkin couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduard Bezukhov was the one to do the kick off. Daniil Yasyrev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adam Babkin in the 52nd minute of the match. If Vladislav Gurin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vladislav Gurin got free with Daniil Yasyrev in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60th minute, Arkadiy Grube got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 61 minutes into the game, Vladislav Gurin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Daniil Yasyrev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Northampton fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Northampton's Adam Babkin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 75th minute, Matvey Bestemyanov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Crawley City's zone, Vladislav Gurin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniil Yasyrev came out of the goal and Vladislav Gurin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th minute of the match Kirill Polisskiy shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oleg Izyumov showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Crawley City's goalkeeper Daniil Yasyrev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vladislav Gurin. Lev Vinogradov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Daniil Yasyrev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Adam Babkin, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 97 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Daniil Yasyrev was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Northampton played a much better game than Crawley City and deserved their victory. The Crawley City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
