Jagraj Mallik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acananas Bhosle having to interfere. If Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Barnard Castle's Jagraj Mallik in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lightwater AFC's goalie prevented a goal. 15 minutes into the match, Barnard Castle's Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Acananas Bhosle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 16 played minutes Lightwater AFC got a freekick which was hit by Kanwal Gogia. The supporters of Barnard Castle booed when Lightwater AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kunju Parmar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Acananas Bhosle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Barnard Castle booed when Lightwater AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Govindappa Lapang didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Barnard Castle's Jugnu Mitra broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa in the 33rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Acananas Bhosle, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Rajminder Sohal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kanwal Gogia went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 40th minute, Sarabdeep Bajaj hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the match, Barnard Castle's goal looked a bit too open when Kanwal Gogia came free, but Rajminder Sohal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kanwal Gogia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kanwal Gogia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rajminder Sohal having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kunju Parmar made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paramananda Mukherjee during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Barnard Castle's Istika Khattri suffered a concussion after 59 minutes and had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Lightwater AFC's Aseem Upadhyay got a free kick in the 60th minute. If Kanwal Gogia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 65th minute Kunju Parmar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rajminder Sohal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Barnard Castle defense, Kunju Parmar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rajminder Sohal. The Barnard Castle fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rajminder Sohal should have stopped the shot. Kanwal Gogia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rajminder Sohal having to interfere. Raghuvinderjit Mahalingappa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Kunju Parmar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kanwal Gogia struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Rajminder Sohal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lightwater AFC. Rajminder Sohal came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Lightwater AFC's Kanwal Gogia. But to his dismay, Kanwal Gogia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After a rather tough play, Lightwater AFC's Bikramjit Ahuja got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Rajminder Sohal made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Kanwal Gogia sent off a good shot on target. The Barnard Castle supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Lightwater AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Lightwater AFC.
