The audience was convinced that Võ Tong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Phạm Tong was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Võ Tong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nam Dinh's supporters rose to their feet, but Võ Tong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phạm Tong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 89 minutes into the game, Trần Hoai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Can Tho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nam Dinh the free kick. In the 89th minute, Trần Hoai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Phạm Phuoc's late challenge caught a Can Tho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Phạm Phuoc helped the player get up and apologised. Phạm Phuoc hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match.
