The audience thought a goal was coming when Huỳnh Nga got free with Phạm Thanh in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rd minute of the match Mai Duong shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nguyễn Hong showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 65th minute, Hồ Hoai made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Hong. Cao Lanh's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in Cao Lanh's zone, Hoàng Tuan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Hong came out of the goal and Hoàng Tuan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hồ Hoai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Hong having to interfere. Phu Yen's Hoàng Tuan got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
