Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dong Ha's Trần Lam started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Hoàng Thuy fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hanoi's protests and gave Hoàng Thuy a yellow card for diving instead. After 2 played minutes Hanoi got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Thuy. Nguyễn Nga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Trần Tuan made a huge save. In the 15th match minute, Dong Ha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phạm Phuoc to maneuver through the defense. After 18 minutes, Lê Hoang mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hanoi and the Dong Ha players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Dong Ha booed when Hanoi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lê Hoang didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trần Lam in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trần Tuan saved Hanoi from getting behind. After some careless play in the Dong Ha defense, Nguyễn Van Quyen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Đặng Cong Vinh. The Dong Ha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Đặng Cong Vinh should have stopped the shot. Nguyễn Van Quyen struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Đặng Cong Vinh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hanoi. Đặng Cong Vinh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Van Quyen's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 27th match minute, Dong Ha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Dinh to maneuver through the defense. 40 minutes into the match, Hanoi's Nguyễn Van Quyen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Đặng Cong Vinh narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Dong Ha's Phạm Phuoc got a free kick in the 40th minute. Đặng Cong Vinh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Van Quyen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Cong Vinh having to interfere. After 47 played minutes Hanoi got a freekick which was hit by Lê Van Quyen. When Trần Lam, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 48 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Trần Tuan was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The wind increased when Trần Van Tai Em made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Nguyễn Van Quyen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hanoi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Van Quyen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Bay was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dong Ha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hanoi the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Dong Ha fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! In the 69th minute, Trần Lam ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Tuan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Đặng Cong Vinh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Van Tai Em in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 73rd match minute, Dong Ha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phạm Phuoc to maneuver through the defense. If Trần Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 80 played minutes Dong Ha got a freekick which was hit by Trần Dinh. Nguyễn Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Cong Vinh having to interfere. With a little luck, Dong Ha's Đặng Cong Vinh got control of the ball when Nguyễn Van Quyen tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Hanoi booed when Dong Ha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Phuoc didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Dong Ha's Đặng Cong Vinh got control of the ball when Nguyễn Van Quyen tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Nguyễn Van Quyen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
