The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Tam Ky was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Quang Thanh to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Quang Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hoàng Pham in the 4th minute of play. Hoàng Pham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Nguyễn Quang Thanh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hoàng Pham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nghiêm Nghiêm-Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Nguyễn Bay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nghiêm Nghiêm-Minh kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. THANH HÓA FC's Hoàng Pham got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, THANH HÓA FC's Bùi Quang sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Quang Thanh narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nghiêm Nghiêm-Minh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner led Tam Ky's Trần Quang Thanh to fire away a dangerous shot which Nguyễn Bay despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Trần Quang Thanh made a great header on Tam Ky's corner, it was just that THANH HÓA FC's Nguyễn Bay managed to reach the ball for a save. Nguyễn Bay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nghiêm Nghiêm-Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Tam Ky's Nghiêm Nghiêm-Minh sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Bay narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tam Ky's goalkeeper Nguyễn Quang Thanh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nguyễn Bay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lê Hieu in the 89th minute.
