Fariz Chien-Kwan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcolm Cotterill having to interfere. In the 14th play minute Roger Thorne came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Albert Lim. 1-0. Albert Lim acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 25th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Harvey Thompson. Albert Lim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Cook, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. A collision led to Merlion FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Danish Seng hit a great ball. Merlion FC's Albert Lim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Cook in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Thorne in the 66th minute of play forced Merlion FC's goalkeeper Albert Lim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leo Cook struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Albert Lim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Biggin Hill United. Albert Lim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Cook in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fariz Chien-Kwan in the 75th minute of play forced Biggin Hill United's goalkeeper Malcolm Cotterill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute of the match Arif Chong shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Malcolm Cotterill showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Roger Thorne cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Albert Lim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leo Cook's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albert Lim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Rich Westwood charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rich Westwood the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 87th match minute, Biggin Hill United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rich Westwood to maneuver through the defense. Merlion FC's Fariz Chien-Kwan got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. John Pickering's late challenge caught a Merlion FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. John Pickering helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Merlion FC booed when Biggin Hill United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Pickering didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Biggin Hill United were the better team. Biggin Hill United's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
