Richard Paynter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kirk Porteus went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Tuggerah's Randell Legg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bryden Hess in the 9th minute of play. Richard Paynter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dallas Willding, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Kirk Porteus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Richard Paynter was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryden Hess in the 16th minute of play forced Tuggerah's goalkeeper Randell Legg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Byrne Czaczka charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Byrne Czaczka the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tuggerah booed when Inactive Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Byrne Czaczka didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kirk Porteus kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Richard Paynter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dallas Willding's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. After 21 minutes, Dallas Willding made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Inactive Team's Richard Paynter tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Tuggerah booed when Inactive Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryden Hess didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-3 became the score in the 28th minute when Kirk Porteus elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Kirk Porteus might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richard Paynter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kirk Porteus ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th minute, Dallas Willding left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tuggerah fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kirk Porteus in the 41st minute of play forced Inactive Team's goalkeeper Richard Paynter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 minutes, Jervis Knevett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inactive Team and the Tuggerah players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Tuggerah booed when Inactive Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jervis Knevett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carman Lovis was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 46th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bryden Hess made a kick off. A collision led to Inactive Team getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. When Parker Tevelien fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tuggerah's protests and gave Parker Tevelien a yellow card for diving instead. Parker Tevelien kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 69th minute Kirk Porteus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Paynter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Paynter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kirk Porteus's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. If Dallas Willding had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dallas Willding recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Inactive Team's Richard Paynter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Inactive Team from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute, Byrne Czaczka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Randell Legg was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Richard Paynter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kirk Porteus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tuggerah played a much better game than Inactive Team and deserved their victory. The Inactive Team players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
