Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. John Notley started the match with the kick off. Melbourne Glory's Otto Durbridge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James Fordham in the 3rd minute of play. Otto Durbridge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Fordham, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 8th minute, Boyd Boyd made a precise shot to the right of Otto Durbridge. Melbourne Glory's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. James Fordham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Otto Durbridge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Melbourne Glory's goalkeeper Otto Durbridge had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boyd Boyd. Otto Durbridge came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Blackwall's Boyd Boyd. But to his dismay, Boyd Boyd quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After a rather tough play, Melbourne Glory's Sam Clubley got a free kick in the 29th minute. Rod Lenard was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 30th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Fordham in the 33rd minute of play forced Melbourne Glory's goalkeeper Otto Durbridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Blackwall's Boyd Boyd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Otto Durbridge narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 41 minutes into the match, Blackwall's goal looked a bit too open when Kirby Feutrill came free, but Carman Sobczak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Boyd Boyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Durbridge having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carman Sobczak narrowly saved just below the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for James Fordham to strike the kick off in the second half. Edwin Mewburn struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Carman Sobczak didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melbourne Glory. After a rather tough play, Blackwall's Buck Calver got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 56 minutes into the match, Melbourne Glory's goal looked a bit too open when James Fordham came free, but Otto Durbridge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute John Notley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carman Sobczak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, James Fordham made a precise shot to the right of Otto Durbridge. Melbourne Glory's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. James Fordham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Durbridge having to interfere. Otto Durbridge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from James Fordham in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Blackwall's goalkeeper Carman Sobczak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Blackwall's Carman Sobczak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Blackwall from getting a goal against them. If Edwin Mewburn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If John Notley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Humphrey Cowdell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Durbridge having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Edwin Mewburn got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 96th minute Boyd Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otto Durbridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Blackwall were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Melbourne Glory for a fine match.
