When Ike Potter came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Calleen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ike Potter couldn't finish the play. Edgar Tupman might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bartholemew Gorham. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Tupman ran back to his position shaking his head. After 20 played minutes Backyard Football got a freekick which was hit by Ed Starling. Edgar Tupman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Bartholemew Gorham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bartholemew Gorham came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Calleen's Edgar Tupman. But to his dismay, Edgar Tupman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Bartholemew Gorham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Tupman, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Irwin Ogle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgar Tupman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bartholemew Gorham having to make a save. After 42 minutes, Ed Starling mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Backyard Football and the Calleen players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute Ike Potter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bartholemew Gorham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cregan Oshea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cregan Oshea made a kick off. Edgar Tupman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Dwight Burmeister fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bartholemew Gorham having to interfere. Backyard Football's Bartholemew Gorham proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Backyard Football from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Calleen booed when Backyard Football was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ed Starling didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Cregan Oshea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Backyard Football's defense didn't have a chance, in the 88th minute, when Edgar Tupman scored to the left of an out of position Bartholemew Gorham, making the score, 0-2. When Kale Addison fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Backyard Football's protests and gave Kale Addison a yellow card for diving instead. When the match was over Calleen could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Backyard Football throughout the match.
