Arnout Reekers was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 53 played minutes Sport Clube Recife got a freekick which was hit by Nurkan Semdin. Percy Fernandez was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer. After 54 played minutes Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored with a long sweeping shot just to the left of Percy Fernandez who was too lazy, 1-2. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Percy Fernandez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pablo Lampard in the 63rd minute of the match. Percy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Sport Clube Recife's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Percy Fernandez in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A hard shot 75 in the game by Gustaaf Groeneveldt from a close distance when the talented Percy Fernandez managed to make a qualified save. Sport Clube Recife's players were relieved. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pablo Lampard in the 76th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Percy Fernandez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robby Woody in the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. In the 84th minute, Pablo Lampard made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
