When Vladeta Jovic fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Serbia's protests and gave Vladeta Jovic a yellow card for diving instead. Mladen Gambiroža fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zvezdan Nedeljkovic having to interfere. Andrej Palković hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Serbia's attentive Momir Gisic managed to snatch the ball when Rueben Hughes made a throw-in in the 13th minute of the game. In the 14th minute, Miljan Gavrilovic hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 15th minute, Andrej Palković made a precise shot to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Serbia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. With a little luck, Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic got control of the ball when Mladen Gambiroža tried to sneak it across the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Mladen Gambiroža notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 32nd match minute, Serbia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cvijetin Nanusevski to maneuver through the defense. Fran Davidović missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 34 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Zvezdan Nedeljkovic right hand side. Mladen Gambiroža recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 37 minutes, Andrej Palković managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Povratnici's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrej Palković was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mladen Gambiroža got free with Zvezdan Nedeljkovic in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Mladen Gambiroža sent off a good shot on target. When Momir Gisic fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Serbia's protests and gave Momir Gisic a yellow card for diving instead. 48 minutes into the match, Mladen Gambiroža had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Serbia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mladen Gambiroža was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sreten Popovic was the one to do the kick off. Mladen Gambiroža received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrej Palković scored 6-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Višeslav Berend made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Sreten Popovic sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Povratnici booed when Serbia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jovan Borisov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andrej Palković in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zvezdan Nedeljkovic prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 90th minute, Andrej Palković ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was frozen by the shot and now it was 11-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrej Palković in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zvezdan Nedeljkovic saved Serbia from getting behind. Andrej Palković kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. Mladen Gambiroža sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Povratnici's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
