Austria's Sandro Galishoff got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Valdieri getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Ferruccio Franceschelli hit a great ball. With a little luck, Austria's Fabio Auer got control of the ball when Dennis Berardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Austria booed when Valdieri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alessio Tornese didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Fabio Schneider managed to get in a good position for a shot. Austria's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabio Schneider was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugenio Stefano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Austria getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Marvin Harrer hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute, Edoardo Rinaldi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fabio Auer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The Valdieri support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
