An unexpectedly hard shot by Inge Braa in the 21st minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Italy booed when Doffes Damer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Vittori didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Inge Braa went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Italy's Zena Busacca managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Herbert Wincek in the 46 minute of the game.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 51st minute of play forced Doffes Damer's goalkeeper Greid Tinsmith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Doffes Damer's Greid Tinsmith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Italy's Siricio Liotta getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. With an all-out effort, Italy's Greid Tinsmith threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sigfrido Auletta, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Inge Braa struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Flavio Vittori didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Doffes Damer. Doffes Damer made a substitution. Carl Nordlander replaced Pier Kopacz. Ronaldo Cristi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Flavio Vittori having to make a save. In the 79th match minute, Doffes Damer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Feliks Gniech to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the match, Doffes Damer's goalkeeper Greid Tinsmith had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Porziano Marchitelli. 84 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Doffes Damer's Ronaldo Cristi fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldo Cristi in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavio Vittori saved Italy from getting behind. Italy were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
