Italy's attentive Eliseo Cutri managed to snatch the ball when Gilbert Nalaskowski made a throw-in in the 9th minute of the game. 11 minutes into the match, Medárd Horváth notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Italy's Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 18 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Porziano Marchitelli. In the 21st minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Medárd Horváth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 22 minutes of play, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Medárd Horváth made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flavio Vittori was left in no man's land by his defense there! 27 minutes into the match, Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Narcis Răcănel. Gilbert Nalaskowski hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game was made by Gilbert Nalaskowski with Paulino Marin as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 35 minutes into the match, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Peter Schmeichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gilbert Nalaskowski in the 37 minute of the game. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Peter Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 38th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Narcis Răcănel got free with Flavio Vittori in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute Medárd Horváth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Medárd Horváth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goal looked a bit too open when Sigfrido Auletta came free, but Peter Schmeichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Peter Schmeichel got control of the ball when Zaccheo Andolina tried to sneak it across the goal line. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL made a substitution. Marko Ruskov replaced Medárd Horváth. The supporters of GoooooooooooooooooooooooL booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zaccheo Andolina didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Zena Busacca hit a great ball. Thanks to Italy's goalie finding himself so far out he could grab the ball Hortêncio Coutinho tried to make a shot after getting passed the defense. Flavio Vittori seemed to really have strength and confidence after that save. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. In the 82nd minute, Gilbert Nalaskowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marko Ruskov, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Peter Schmeichel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guiscardo Davide in the 88th minute of play. With a little luck, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Peter Schmeichel got control of the ball when Adriano Curto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Peter Schmeichel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adriano Curto went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
