Zacisze Częstochowa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Porziano Marchitelli was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 38th minute Sigfrido Auletta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miroslaw Gollob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zacisze Częstochowa's Miroslaw Gollob played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 40th minute of play. In the 41st minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Zaccheo Andolina advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-2 in the 41st minute. Miroslaw Gollob made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 44th minute of play. After 46 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Zaccheo Andolina. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Jurand Cempa made the kick off in the second half. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zenon Cisek in the 94th minute of play. Zenon Cisek took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4.
