After 6 played minutes EL PEPO FC got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Camerino. In the 7th minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Leonardo Olazabal ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Romulo Jon. Romulo Jon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Sotero came free, but Mauro Torne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute EL PEPO FC were awarded a corner. Gaspar Fernendo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Gaspar Fernendo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Inter de Guayaquil FC's Mauro Torne did a great save. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Valiente Tebar took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Romulo Jon to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Inge in the 27th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Mauro Torne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauro Torne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elvio Rainerio, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Mauro Torne didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Samuel Sotero went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elvio Rainerio to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Gallego to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de Guayaquil FC's zone, Gaspar Fernendo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauro Torne came out of the goal and Gaspar Fernendo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vera Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 78 minutes into the game, Fernando Guedeja cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Romulo Jon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Juan-Alfredo Guceño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The supporters of EL PEPO FC booed when Inter de Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alarcón Mallavia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gaspar Fernendo, 92 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal.
