Stanislav Kaiturov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Leonardo Olazabal ran back to his position shaking his head. Stanislav Kaiturov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valiente Tebar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gabriel Gallego hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Stanislav Kaiturov was a little too slow when Leonardo Olazabal got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 0-6. Leonardo Olazabal hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. After 84 minutes of play, Galatasaray SK's Mikhail Guschin made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauro Torne was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leonardo Olazabal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Osvaldo Laserna hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Inter de Guayaquil FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
