In the 3rd minute Antonio Navarro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikola Vlašić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Germany booed when Chevaliers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Bagge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antonio Navarro in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tommy Kahn, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience was convinced that Antonio Navarro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy Kahn was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. If Nikola Vlašić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chris Chevalier hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
