Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. Kees Mooiweer made in the 19th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Lars Meesters however managed to control. Kim Deckbergh's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reine Gudmundsson was the one to do the kick off. Thomas Runeberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 51st minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Brutal DeLuxe's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Meesters came free, but Thomas Runeberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brutal DeLuxe's Thomas Runeberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 62nd minute of play.
