Silverio Cordearo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Inguma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner ended in Lorenzo Acutain almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but CA Quake's Silverio Cordearo did a great save. When Fernando Reyes fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CA Quake's protests and gave Fernando Reyes a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for CA Quake! CA Quake:s Silverio Cordearo showed great skill when he stopped Jörn Svartengren:s penalty. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cayetano Aznaro in the 9th minute of play. Sebastian Hellkvist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victoriano Sustrai in the 10th minute. Victoriano Sustrai could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Sebastian Hellkvist made a huge save. CA Quake's Silverio Cordearo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 12th minute of play. A collision led to CA Quake getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Eduardo Ledesma hit a great ball. Jacobo Mouricio charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacobo Mouricio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to CA Quake getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jacobo Mouricio hit a great ball. Salvador Musacchio made a great header on Inter de Guayaquil FC's corner, it was just that CA Quake's Silverio Cordearo managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 28th minute Victoriano Sustrai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Hellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, CA Quake's Rogelio Sadurni got a free kick in the 30th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Jörn Svartengren notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of CA Quake's Silverio Cordearo. Silverio Cordearo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when CA Quake was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eloy Larra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Hellkvist made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Eloy Larra sent off a good shot on target. Inter de Guayaquil FC's attentive Celso Inguma managed to snatch the ball when Jacobo Mouricio made a throw-in in the 40th minute of the game. When Jörn Svartengren came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Inter de Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jörn Svartengren couldn't finish the play. When Ciro Henry fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CA Quake's protests and gave Ciro Henry a yellow card for diving instead. After some careless play in the CA Quake defense, Mateusz Giertych kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silverio Cordearo. The CA Quake fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silverio Cordearo should have stopped the shot. After the first half Inter de Guayaquil FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Victoriano Sustrai made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Victoriano Sustrai came free, but Sebastian Hellkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jörn Svartengren got free with Silverio Cordearo in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59th minute of the match Inter de Guayaquil FC got a corner. CA Quake's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Salvador Musacchio ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Inter de Guayaquil FC's Xavier Zanetti to fire away a dangerous shot which Silverio Cordearo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Silverio Cordearo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lorenzo Acutain, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. A throw-in in the 61st minute of the game was made by Jacobo Mouricio with Igor Jago as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 66 minutes into the match, CA Quake's goalkeeper Silverio Cordearo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jörn Svartengren. Jörn Svartengren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silverio Cordearo having to interfere. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jakub Ziombkowski was substituted for Hernan Coca. Éric Cantona might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silverio Cordearo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Éric Cantona ran back to his position shaking his head. Silverio Cordearo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Éric Cantona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Éric Cantona took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Silverio Cordearo. Silverio Cordearo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Éric Cantona took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Silverio Cordearo to make any attempt to save it. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Humberto Barragan was substituted for Lorenzo Acutain. Éric Cantona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silverio Cordearo having to interfere. With a little luck, CA Quake's Silverio Cordearo got control of the ball when Jakub Ziombkowski tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 89th minute Éric Cantona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silverio Cordearo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Silverio Cordearo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Guayaquil FC. Inter de Guayaquil FC played a much better game than CA Quake and deserved their victory. The CA Quake players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
