To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 6 minutes into the game, Jörn Svartengren cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Luís Gustavo Custódio was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Jörn Svartengren put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Gustavo Custódio. Luís Gustavo Custódio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute Jörn Svartengren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Gustavo Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Excelência de Luxe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 46th minute, Antônio Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jörn Svartengren to make the kick off. Luís Gustavo Custódio was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 94th match minute, Excelência de Luxe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Nunes to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Excelência de Luxe getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Claudinho Travassos hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Inter de Guayaquil FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
