In the 5th minute, Kevin Keegan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johnny Kopp stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chen Ao Fan's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. FC Talanglös's Johnny Kopp proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save FC Talanglös from getting a goal against them. Karl-Erik Norström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kryspin Budzyn, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Kevin Keegan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Johnny Kopp made a huge save. In the 24th minute Herbert Mattsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Erik Norström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Skövde AIK's Karl-Erik Norström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kryspin Budzyn in the 30th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Skövde AIK's Kurt Hamrin got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After 36 played minutes Skövde AIK got a freekick which was hit by Håkan Kruse. Chen Ao Fan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Kopp having to interfere. Kevin Keegan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Johnny Kopp came out and tried to block the shot, but Kevin Keegan slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kryspin Budzyn made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basiel Reynders got free with Karl-Erik Norström in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th minute, Krister Uggstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Kryspin Budzyn managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Talanglös's supporters rose to their feet, but Kryspin Budzyn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Karl-Erik Norström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute Kurt Hamrin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnny Kopp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 71stth minute of the game Kurt Hamrin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Talanglös's Johnny Kopp was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Karl-Erik Norström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Basiel Reynders in the 72nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Talanglös's zone, Chen Ao Fan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnny Kopp came out of the goal and Chen Ao Fan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Talanglös's Örjan Öman was substituted for Kryspin Budzyn. FC Talanglös made a substitution. Tobias Ekblom replaced Marcus Termander. In the 78thth minute of the game Chen Ao Fan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Talanglös's Johnny Kopp was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herbert Mattsson in the 80th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Karl-Erik Norström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Knut Rudberg in the 84th minute of play forced FC Talanglös's goalkeeper Johnny Kopp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Basiel Reynders ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Karl-Erik Norström was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
