In the 6th minute Kraig Fred shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Ascaso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Spain's Omar Toledo got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Estudiantes de América's Marcos Ranolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adria Bielsa in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to Estudiantes de América getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Douglas Byström hit a great ball. Kraig Fred blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gabriel Ascaso having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kraig Fred got free with Gabriel Ascaso in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the game, Estudiantes de América's Kraig Fred nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gabriel Ascaso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Estudiantes de América's Marcos Ranolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Omar Toledo in the 22nd minute of play. Marcos Ranolfo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Toledo in the 24th minute of the match. Jon Cubero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Marcos Ranolfo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Spain's Pau Herrero was substituted for David Aranda. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Concetto Trasatti in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Ascaso saved Spain from getting behind. If Concetto Trasatti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jon Cubero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Ranolfo having to interfere. Spain were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
