When Mathijn Doctor fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Netherlands's protests and gave Mathijn Doctor a yellow card for diving instead. 42 minutes into the match, Espen Steelers's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Fabian Honauer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabian Honauer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 44th minute of the match. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Espen Steelers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogelio Montez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogelio Montez in the 47th minute.

A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Mathijn Doctor hit a great ball. Espen Steelers's Fabian Honauer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 54th minute of play. In the 55th minute, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fabian Honauer. Fabian Honauer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Fabian Honauer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nino Schurter in the 60th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Fabian Honauer managed to avoid a goal in the 62ndth minute, when Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 65th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabian Honauer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabian Honauer was a little too slow when Wim Wilmes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 1-3. Netherlands's Lars Meesters got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 75 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Nino Schurter came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Espen Steelers supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Netherlands's performance. The match ended with a win for Netherlands.
