The audience thought a goal was coming when Saul Baumer got free with Wilson Amorim in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wilson Amorim made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Marciano Min sent off a good shot on target. 19 minutes into the game, Portugal's Viriato Moura nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Napoleon Dziedelonis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Florentino Lastur kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilson Amorim. That made the score 1-1 in the 23 minute of play. After 27 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Viriato Moura. When Abelardo Nardo fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zuberbühler FC's protests and gave Abelardo Nardo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Portugal booed when Zuberbühler FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abelardo Nardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Baumer in the 30th minute of play. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. 35 minutes into the match, Zuberbühler FC's Saul Baumer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 36th minute Zuberbühler FC were awarded a corner. Marciano Min went to the cornerflag to take it. Marciano Min made a great header on Zuberbühler FC's corner, it was just that Portugal's Wilson Amorim managed to reach the ball for a save. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marciano Min in the 40th minute. Daniel Pimentel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Napoleon Dziedelonis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Zuberbühler FC made a substitution. Iwan Sebzda replaced Florentino Lastur. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 55th minute Portugal were awarded a corner. Felipe Barreto went to the cornerflag to take it. Napoleon Dziedelonis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipe Barreto in the 58th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Viriato Moura had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Napoleon Dziedelonis. Zuberbühler FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Viriato Moura was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Zuberbühler FC's Jonathan Iruinea was substituted for Marciano Min. In the 70th minute, Caetano Moreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Napoleon Dziedelonis was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. With an all-out effort, Portugal's Napoleon Dziedelonis threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Caetano Moreira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Napoleon Dziedelonis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Portugal booed when Zuberbühler FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Gabon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Napoleon Dziedelonis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipinho Amorim in the 83rd minute. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saul Baumer in the 87th minute of the match. Napoleon Dziedelonis was a little too slow when Felipinho Amorim got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 90th minute. The score was now 2-5. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
