Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Hamzah Al Motar made the kick off and thus started the match. Grêmio FBPA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mané Goiano in the 4th minute. 5 minutes into the match, Hamzah Al Motar notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Grêmio FBPA's Andréas Linquist. Andréas Linquist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 9 minutes into the game, Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bram Kiewit made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. A throw-in in the 13th minute of the game was made by Abdul Rahman Shrean with Mosalam Al Bloshi as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Grêmio FBPA's attentive Mané Goiano managed to snatch the ball when Abdul Rahman Shrean made a throw-in in the 16th minute of the game. Virgiliu Doroftei took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bram Kiewit. Bram Kiewit dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The Grêmio FBPA fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Bram Kiewit took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgiliu Doroftei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Al Yarmouk Kuwait's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mané Goiano was slow to take the kick. During this time Grêmio FBPA's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Grêmio FBPA's Mané Goiano getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgiliu Doroftei in the 40th minute of play forced Al Yarmouk Kuwait's goalkeeper Bram Kiewit to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andréas Linquist stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Morjan Al Fadhalah's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, one of Grêmio FBPA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Grêmio FBPA. After the first half Grêmio FBPA were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Al Yarmouk Kuwait's Bram Kiewit played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgiliu Doroftei in the 62nd minute of play. Virgiliu Doroftei received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bram Kiewit came out and tried to block the shot, but Virgiliu Doroftei slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 68th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Morjan Al Fadhalah came free, but Andréas Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bram Kiewit. That made the score 1-5 after 73 minutes of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulysses Secco during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 75 played minutes Grêmio FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Ulysses Secco. Grêmio FBPA made a substitution. Romário Paiva replaced Ulysses Secco. In the 76th match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Secco to maneuver through the defense. Morjan Al Fadhalah fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andréas Linquist having to interfere. After some careless play in the Al Yarmouk Kuwait defense, Virgiliu Doroftei kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bram Kiewit. The Al Yarmouk Kuwait fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bram Kiewit should have stopped the shot. After having played for 84 minutes, Virgiliu Doroftei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio FBPA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgiliu Doroftei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Virgiliu Doroftei's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bram Kiewit read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Al Yarmouk Kuwait was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rio Darwis to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 94th minute, when Grêmio FBPA's Mané Goiano after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Bram Kiewit in Al Yarmouk Kuwait's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch.
