GuateFortín's Claudio Cerritos shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 12th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Wilson Amorim but with some difficulty. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 19th minute Portugal were awarded a corner. Felipe Barreto went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Portugal's corner Felipe Barreto fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nery Pumpido quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 20th minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nery Pumpido didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felipe Barreto went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 32 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven-Edvin Jansson. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of Portugal booed when GuateFortín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stanyo Búnkov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Christian Najarro hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After 45 minutes of play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nery Pumpido was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Viriato Moura was the one to do the kick off. Stanyo Búnkov got a throw-in 52 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Claudio Cerritos. In the 55th minute Stanyo Búnkov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Graciano Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Nery Pumpido made a huge save. After 59 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Bastos. GuateFortín's Máximo Perrone was substituted for Mario Gomez. GuateFortín made a substitution. Heriberto Correa replaced Roberto Trotta. GuateFortín made a substitution. Rudy Sigaran replaced Stanyo Búnkov. Daniel Pimentel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Nery Pumpido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. 1-3 became the score in the 77th minute when Bartolomeu Dias elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Danilo Ocampo hit a great ball. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rudy Sigaran went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bruno Bastos hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Zico Zellier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zico Zellier in the 90th minute of play. Zico Zellier scored 3-3 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
