Chris Nygaard succeeded in the game's 8th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. 16 minutes into the match, GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ's goal looked a bit too open when Chris Nygaard came free, but Jan Turek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Nygaard in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan Turek saved GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ from getting behind. A collision led to GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Iwo Kuszczak hit a great ball. Kenn Skou kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Mathias Ludvigsen was shown his second yellow card after 29 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 29 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Ludvigsen. GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ's Norbert Mikulski shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 31st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Keld Paulsen but with some difficulty. Leszek Tusk hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. When Bertram Svenningsen came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bertram Svenningsen couldn't finish the play. Denmark's Olav Graversen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bogdan Babicki, made in the 37th minute of the game. If Bertram Svenningsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Denmark booed when GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wawrzyniec Franzik didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 70 minutes, Bertram Svenningsen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Denmark and the GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 70 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Bertram Svenningsen. In the 71st minute of the match Norbert Mikulski sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Keld Paulsen skillfully saved the ball. Mikkel Wulff took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan Turek. Jan Turek dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 81 minutes, Bjarne Kirkegaard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Denmark and the GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 81st minute, Bjarne Kirkegaard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bogumil Pilarczyk made in the 84th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Denmark's Lars Steen. In the 87th match minute, GKS OLIMPIA GRUDZIĄDZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milosz Sroki to maneuver through the defense.
