But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adria Bielsa couldn't finish the play. If Evaristo Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvaro Rudolfo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adria Bielsa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fausto Romero in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Ascaso saved Spain from getting behind. Gabriel Ascaso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fausto Romero in the 28th minute of play. Evaristo Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Gabriel Ascaso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
