The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind lןןl La Coconeta's goalkeeper Ediberto Righi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Martin Palermo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Enrique in the 27th minute of play forced Magic is Back's goalkeeper Ruben Sánchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, lןןl La Coconeta's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Palermo came free, but Ediberto Righi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the lןןl La Coconeta defense, Martin Palermo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ediberto Righi. The lןןl La Coconeta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ediberto Righi should have stopped the shot. Ruben Sánchez made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Ramiro Enrique sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martin Palermo in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ediberto Righi saved lןןl La Coconeta from getting behind. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Luis Sánchez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute José Luis Sánchez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Luis Sánchez in the 54th minute of play. Magic is Back's Claudio Marangoni was substituted for Marcelo Trobbiani. In the 80th minute, Martin Palermo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. lןןl La Coconeta's Josemir Lujambio was substituted for Ramiro Enrique. Magic is Back's Rubén-Darío Feldmann was substituted for Luis Medero. Ruben Sánchez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Josemir Lujambio's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Luis Sánchez in the 94th minute of play forced Magic is Back's goalkeeper Ruben Sánchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ediberto Righi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Potente in the 95th minute of play.
