The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasmus Højlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. In the 10th minute, Benedito Rebelo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GD Almargense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Rasmus Højlund scored 2-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Kahn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 17 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Chris Mergenthaler. A collision led to GD Almargense getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Jacinto Baldaia hit a great ball. Rasmus Højlund received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Rasmus Højlund slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 21st minute. A hard shot 24 in the game by Celso Eiró from a close distance when the talented Tommy Kahn managed to make a qualified save. Germany's players were relieved. When Chris Mergenthaler fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Chris Mergenthaler a yellow card for diving instead. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. GD Almargense's Alexandre Eanes got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benedito Rebelo struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GD Almargense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benedito Rebelo got free with Tommy Kahn in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. GD Almargense were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Germany's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alexandre Eanes took the corner. Tommy Kahn made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Benedito Rebelo sent off a good shot on target. 45 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benedito Rebelo. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rasmus Højlund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Eanes couldn't finish the play. 59 minutes into the game, GD Almargense's Benedito Rebelo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. GD Almargense made a substitution. Alexandre Valadares replaced Rui Ramires. The supporters of Germany booed when GD Almargense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Eanes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Valadares came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Eanes in the 69th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
