Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidro Madriz, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Ernesto Monge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Miguel Volio. The Belgium fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Casper Claes should have stopped the shot. Belgium's Lenny Clocheret quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Reynaldo Esquivel, made in the 34th minute of the game. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Miguel Volio in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidro Madriz in the 38th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Volio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isidro Madriz in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Casper Claes saved Belgium from getting behind. Edward Vanderstraeten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ernesto Monge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Belgium booed when CS La Libertad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reynaldo Esquivel didn't get a good kick on the ball. CS La Libertad made a substitution. Agustin Barrantes replaced Isidro Madriz. After 47 played minutes CS La Libertad got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Esquivel. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Vanderstraeten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Volio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Ernesto Monge in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute, Yves Dervaux left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustin Barrantes, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Ernesto Monge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. 73 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ernesto Monge narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Edward Vanderstraeten took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Ernesto Monge to make any attempt to save it. Lenny Clocheret blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ernesto Monge having to make a save. Edward Vanderstraeten who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Ernesto Monge when he managed to save the team from getting behind. CS La Libertad's Ernesto Monge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save CS La Libertad from getting a goal against them. Casper Claes came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by CS La Libertad's Rodrigo Lobo. But to his dismay, Rodrigo Lobo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Agustin Barrantes managed to get in a good position for a shot. CS La Libertad's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustin Barrantes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 90th minute of play forced CS La Libertad's goalkeeper Ernesto Monge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernesto Monge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head.
